A Rare Combination of Expertise

Barbara Jordan is one of the few professionals in Northeast Wisconsin who holds dual credentials as both a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Executive Coach (CEC). This unique combination gives her clients access to something most coaches simply can’t offer — the ability to address both the strategic and deeply personal dimensions of leadership.

With over 25 years of experience, Barbara has worked with executives, directors, managers, and emerging leaders across manufacturing, healthcare, education, and professional services industries throughout the Green Bay and Fox Valley region.

Her clients come to her when they’re facing burnout, career plateaus, difficult team dynamics, or major leadership transitions. They stay because her approach creates lasting, meaningful change — not just surface-level strategies.

The “Inside Out” Approach

Most coaching focuses on external behaviors and strategies. Barbara goes deeper — addressing the internal patterns that drive those behaviors.

Who is Barbara Jordan — and why work with her?

Let me be honest with you.

For twenty-five years, I’ve studied human development, behavior, and performance. I earned degree after degree, certification after certification, license after license — 3 degrees, 3 certificates, and 3 professional licenses. I’ve taught 16 different courses at the college level. If you visited my home, you’d see shelves full of leadership and personal-growth books. As an author, a leadership coach and an expert in neurolinguistic re-programming/self-hypnosis for relaxation & success, I thought I had it all. I was on my way to the top… so it seemed.

But, I felt stuck.

After a series of unfortunate events — including the deaths of both of my parents and a painful divorce — I struggled in my business. I knew what I had to do; I just wasn’t doing what I knew.

Have you ever been there? Knowing you were meant for something more — to do more, be more, have more — and still feeling stuck?

As a perfectionist with an imposter mindset, I was afraid people wouldn’t like me, wouldn’t respect me, or wouldn’t be interested in me. Like so many successful women in leadership, I felt like a fraud. I was so afraid of failure that, by focusing on those fears, I was actually attracting the very things I dreaded. After all, where your attention goes, your energy flows, and your results show — that’s the law of attraction.

There I was — a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society, with more letters behind my name than alphabet soup. I felt like an over-educated under-achiever. Growing up, I was taught: “Get good grades, work hard, and you’ll make it”. Here I was, “against all odds” as they say, a farm girl from a poor family, without any of the resources or network that so many successful people have. I was determined to educate myself out of poverty. And, I swore I was doing everything right. I was a good person, running my business with integrity, helping everyone I could. So how did I end up having to shake out my purse and search couch cushions and car seats for coins?

At my lowest, I prayed: “Lord, help me see what I’m doing wrong.”

I reached for my Bible, and it opened to Proverbs 17:16 — “Why should fools have money in hand to buy wisdom, when they aren’t able to understand it?” Then to Matthew 7:7-8 — “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

That was it.

I had been seeking more and more knowledge and skill, when what I really needed was to change my mindset. You see, you can have all the leadership tools in the world, but it won’t matter if your toolbox is too small and weak. One of the most important lessons I learned growing up on the farm is this: If you want a plentiful harvest of abundant fruit, you have to have the best roots (seeds and soil, too). What’s beneath the surface may be invisible, but it determines what grows above the surface! If you want to change your outer world, you must first change your inner world.

So instead of chasing yet another degree, certification, or license, I looked inward. I began examining my own thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, assumptions, and conclusions — and I challenged and changed every negative, self-limiting belief I found. Because you can have all the skillsets in the world, but without emotional intelligence and the right mindset, you’ll only sabotage yourself.

Then everything changed.

Out of that journey, I created 8 professional development recordings (based on what helped ME transform MYSELF) and wrote a book — to help leaders overcome perfectionism, find success in spite of stress, motivate people in positive ways, break through their glass ceiling, and manage their time and goals. Rather than focus on skillsets, I focused on mindsets. And, from that point on, I became far more successful.

Now my mission is to help you do the same.

As a leadership coach, I help leaders build the confidence, courage, and credibility to lead well — and to bridge the gap between where they are now and where they want to be. I’ll help you get clear on what you truly want, what you’re willing to do to get it, and how to stay on track until you have it. You don’t need more letters behind your name. You just need the right mindset in front of you.
